A little information about our special guest, Julia Auger:
The first book I ever owned was C. M. Barker’s Flower Fairies of the Trees: a small book of poems, each accompanied by a beautiful watercolor of the fairy in the poem and his or her flowering tree. I immediately fell in love with the poetry and pictures, already being the kid who preferred sitting in a tree or talking to flowers and birds over going to a friend’s house. This early love for poetry and nature was the greenhouse in which my storytelling style grew. And though I started with classical lessons in piano at age 7 and guitar at age 8 (and went on to add several other instruments, including harp), I have always viewed music as a medium for storytelling. I studied piano and double bass at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln for three semesters before accepting that this was not a style or atmosphere my creativity fit into. So, for the past year and a half, I have been returning to and unearthing the songs in my soul, using music and words as a way to tell the story of humanness: a story of beauty, tragedy, rebellion and pain redeemed for a higher purpose. Recently, yoga has become part of my story as a way to care for my soul and create enough quiet awareness to discover the songs in me that are longing to be born. Because of that, I’m absolutely thrilled to partner with Studio 4:8 – where I have personally learned and come to love yoga – to combine music and yoga with the Psalms. The Psalms tell the personal stories of individuals calling out to God from the midst of difficulty, joy, mourning, and celebration; they are a guide for rejoicing in the LORD, regardless of circumstance. Jesus himself prayed and recited many of the Psalms during his time here on earth, and I’m overjoyed at the opportunity to come alongside you as you follow in the footsteps of our Saviour and call out to the Father in worship through these songs.
