Yoga 101 is a two week series designed to introduce new students to the fundamentals of yoga. (Not new to yoga, but would like to brush up on the fundamentals? You are welcome to join.) After completing these two weeks of introductory practice, you will have gained the skills to have a well-rounded home practice or feel comfortable to join in group classes at a studio.
We will discuss the benefits of yoga and the different styles of yoga (Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative) we will discover the importance of not only the physical practice, but the benefits of breath-work, mindfulness and meditation. We will begin working on basic poses and the importance of personal alignment and why yoga props are beneficial.
We will continue building on basic poses and their variations and modifications including Sun Salutations. Breath-work will be added to enhance the experience of the physical shapes. We will also be discussing the importance of establishing a weekly Sabbath and Rest.
These two weeks build on each other so please commit to attending both sessions if possible. No discounts, credits or refunds will be issued if you need to miss a session.
Mats and yoga props provided (or feel free to bring your own).

Highly skilled, personal instruction from Bonnie and her 13 years of teaching basic yoga to new students. Class size will be limited to be sure individual attention.
A handout will be provided each week to take home with notes and resources from the day’s topic(s).
A two week class pass to use at Studio 4:8 within 2 months (non-members—two week buddy pass for members) after you’ve completed the series.
Class meets 5:30-6:45 pm Fridays January 3rd and 10th. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class starts. Wear comfortable clothes (there is bathroom available to change in) and bring a water bottle.
